C&B Recruitment are looking for an experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager for a commercial fleet in Leeds. This role will suit a current Service Manager, Aftersales Manager, Depot Manager, Workshop controller within the commercial automotive sector.

In conjunction with the Transport Manager, ensure the company fully complies with DVSA regulations with regards vehicle maintenance and compliance. Ensure all vehicles are serviced and maintained to a high standard and total compliance achieved. Responsible for all maintenance contracts and ensuring they are kept up to date. Managing vehicle maintenance facilities ensuring any issues that arise are resolved accordingly.

Responsibilities of a Fleet Maintenance Manager

  • To make sure that all aspects of DVSA vehicle compliance is adhered to and maintained. This includes responsibility for planning all vehicle MOTs, 6 weekly vehicle and trailer safety inspections in accordance with the companies policies.
  • Ensure all vehicles are serviced regularly and LOLER tests are kept up to date.
  • Ensure that vehicles and equipment are maintained in a fit and proper manner and in accordance with vehicle & equipment operating manuals.
  • Ensure vehicle tachograph recording equipment is inspected and calibrated in accordance with legislative timescales.
  • Maintain OCRS scores above that of the national average.
  • Maintain effective and constructive communication with other key colleagues daily.
  • Monitor, repair, log and file all driver defect sheets, driver vehicle check and defect reports.
  • Produce a weekly report detailing all issues relating to the fleet compliance / maintenance including VOR’s to Transport Manager which will be circulated to Directors and key members within the group.
  • Keep Senior Management and Customer Service / sales team fully informed of any issues arising that require action.
  • Obtain correct authorisation for any vehicle expenditure and check invoices received.
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate stock levels are controlled.
  • Responsible for ensuring we are buying at competitive prices when purchasing vehicles parts and workshop sundries.
  • To ensure weekly payroll is completed accurately and on time to meet payroll deadlines.
  • To keep an accurate log of employee holidays and make sure these are accepted or declined in a timely manner and communicate this to the employee.
  • To keep an accurate log of employee’s sickness and absences through the correct system using the correct absence codes
  • To carry out any other tasks as instructed by the Transport Manager or other Senior Management which are in keeping with the job role.

You will ideally be a qualified Vehicle Technician/Mechanic and will need to know commercial vehicle regulations.
